"The author of a work of the mind shall enjoy in that work, by the mere fact of its creation, an exclusive incorporeal property right which shall be enforceable against all persons." - Art.L111-1 of the CPI.
Any unauthorised use constitutes a civil fault and a criminal offence.
"Any represetation or complete or partial reproduction, made without the approval of the author or its rightful owners or legal successors is illegal (…..)". Art. L122-4 of the CPI.
Copyrights usually apply for a period of 70 years after the death of an author.
